4. When Dee’s mother didn’t give her the quilts, it definitely indicates that two characters had permanent changes. Dee’s mother always did anything Dee wanted. But she is saying ‘no’ to her favor. Dee would be very confused because she now thinks that her mother has some power that can stop her. It is not temporary change because what she did was not usual thing that she does. When Dee’s mother said that she’s going to give the quilt to Maggie, Dee angrily says that her mom is putting the quilt into everyday use.
